The Q series dummy is a children's series dummy introduced after the P series dummy. Compared with the P series dummy, the biomechanical characteristics of the Q series dummy have been improved, and the dummy response is defined based on the biomechanical information response curves of children and scaled down adults. The dummy can be equipped with acceleration sensors, angular velocity sensors, force sensors, displacement sensors, etc. to evaluate the injuries suffered in various situations.
I
Structure:
Head--The head is largely made from synthetics. Linear acceleration sensors and angular velocity sensors can be installed inside the skull.
Neck --The neck is flexible and allows shear and bending in all directions. The segmented design allows a realisticrotational behavior. The neck is equipped with low stretch neck-cord to prevent excessive elongation. Theneck-cord is also designed to act as a safety cord in case of rubber failure. 11 mm of free play is designedinto the neck for improved biofidelity. A six-channel load cell can be mounted at the neck-head and necktorso interface.
Thorax--The thorax of the child is represented by a single ribcage. The deformation can bemeasured with an IR-TRACC sensor. The shoulders are connected with a flexible joint tothe thorax, allowing deformation forwards. Accelerometers can be mounted on the spineto measure linear accelerations. In addition, shoulder replacement can also be used to achieve side impact.
Abdomen --The abdomen has a foam interior covered with PVC skin. Biomechanical data fromchildren has been used to determine the required stiffness.
Lumbar Spine --The lumbar spine is a flexible rubber column, which allows shear and bending in alldirections. A six-channel load cell can be mounted between the lumbar spine and thepelvis.
Pelvis --The Q-dummy pelvis has removable hip joints. An accelerometer array can be mountedin the pelvis. The special hip joint structure allows the dummy to stand.
Arms--The arm is composed of the upper and lower parts, connected by the elbow joint. The shoulder joint is a spherical structure that allows for free rotation within a certain range.
Legs --The knee joints can be locked in any position. This feature can be used to facilitatepositioning the dummy out of position. Note that the dummy does not have the ability tostand without support.

- ANCAP testing
The Q-series dummy is a children's series dummy launched after the P-series dummy. Compared to the P series dummy, the biomechanical characteristics of the Q series dummy have been improved, based on the dummy response defined by the biomechanical information response curves of children and scaled down adults. This series of dummies can be equipped with acceleration sensors, angular velocity sensors, force sensors, displacement sensors, etc., to evaluate the damage suffered by the dummy in various situations.
In order to make the child dummy easy to install and disassemble, SAF Company has optimized the dummy structure to ensure that the dummy can be quickly disassembled and assembled, and to minimize the impact of sensors on the dummy's motion characteristics, protecting the integrity of sensors and cables inside the dummy.
