The Hybrid III 5th female dummy, as a substitute for real humans in car collision tests, is based on measurements of characteristic dimensions and weight from the human body of 5th percentile adult women. The impact response requirements for its head, neck, chest, hip, knee, and ankle joints are calculated from the biological fidelity requirements of the Hbrid III male dummy.
Structure:
The device is a human simulation device of head, neck, chest, upper arm, trunk, leg, shoes, and coat corresponding to human body, which is composed of metal and plastic skeleton covers to simulate the rubber, plastic, and foam of muscles. It has similar impact resistance characteristics to human body, and its size and mass represent the 5th percentile adult female. During the experiment, acceleration sensors, load sensors, displacement sensors, and other devices were installed at specific positions inside the H-III female dummy to measure the acceleration, load, displacement, and other data of the tested components during the frontal collision process of the car for performance analysis.

--UN R137 testing
--Euro NCAP testing
--FMVSS 208 testing
--U. S-NCAP testing
--K-NCAP testing
--Latin NCAP testing
--J-NCAP testing
--ASEAN NCAP testing
The Hybrid III 5th percentile female dummy is used as a substitute for real humans in car collision tests to measure the mechanical responses of various parts of the human body in frontal collisions, including head center of mass acceleration, neck force and torque, chest acceleration and compression displacement, pelvic acceleration, leg axial force (left/right), knee joint sliding displacement (left/right), upper tibia force and torque of the calf, and lower tibia force and torque (left/right).
Head: The skull and back of the head are both made of integral cast aluminum, equipped with detachable vinyl head skin and back of the head skin. After removing the back of the head, sensors can be installed inside the skull. The calibration results of vinyl skin are consistent with the biological fidelity of human frontal impact response.
Neck: A biomimetic joint that provides feedback on angle and time relationships during dynamic bending (forward bending) and stretching (backward bending). The neck cable can control the tensile response and increase the durability of the neck under high axial tension.
Torso: The aluminum clavicle assembly is equipped with high-strength shoulder blades to prevent interference with the shoulder straps. Six spring steel ribs with damping materials can approximately simulate the force displacement response characteristics of the human chest. The sternum assembly is connected to the front end of the ribs and includes a slider of a chest displacement sensor to measure the relative displacement between the chest and thoracic vertebrae.
Hips: The straight waist spine is used to simulate the sitting position of most people in the passenger seat. Polyurethane skin and aluminum pelvic bone are poured to create hip skin, while the pelvis is modeled after the shape of the human body and equipped with force sensors to replace pelvic diving prediction sensors.
Arm: composed of upper arm, lower arm, and hand, the outer side of the skeleton is made of PVC/polyurethane biomimetic skin and muscle tissue wrapped steel structure skeleton cast into shape. Nylon protective pads and rubber blocks are used to limit each joint, simulating the rotation angle of the human arm. The upper and lower arms and hands can rotate around the joints, and the elasticity can be adjusted.
Legs: Composed of thighs, knees, calves, and feet, the thighs, knees, and calf skin are cast using PVC and polyurethane skin like muscle material molds, with a steel structure as the skeleton. The feet are internally cast with a steel structure skeleton, while the knees are made of high-performance aluminum and are equipped with rubber materials and sliders that simulate ligaments and calf bones. The sliders are made of stainless steel and natural rubber, which simulate the ligaments on both sides of the knees. Through sliding tests, data feedback from the human calf can be obtained. The calf can rotate freely through the slider of the knee joint, and the ankle is a steel structure that simulates the human ankle bone structure, which can rotate freely in all directions and has locking and adjusting elasticity functions.
